Lake Manyara National Park is located in northern Tanzania, between the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara, approximately 126 km west of Arusha and 34 km south of the town of Mto wa Mbu.
The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, which are a unique and rare sight in the wild. Interestingly, scientists believe that the lions of Lake Manyara developed their tree-climbing behavior as a way to escape the pesky tsetse flies that inhabit the lower levels of the park.
Lake Manyara National Park is easily accessible by air or road from several nearby towns. The nearest airport is Kilimanjaro International Airport, located approximately 130 km away. From there, you can take a domestic flight to Lake Manyara Airport, which is just a short drive from the park.
You can also reach the park by road from Arusha, Moshi, and Karatu, or by joining an organized tour that includes transportation, accommodation, and park fees. Once you arrive at the park, you can explore its many attractions on foot, by vehicle, or by canoe, with the assistance of a local guide or tour operator.
