Ngorongoro Conservation Area is situated in the northern part of Tanzania, approximately 180 km to the west of Arusha. The most convenient way to reach the area is by taking a flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport, followed by a domestic flight to Manyara or Arusha airport.
Another option is to embark on a picturesque road trip from Arusha or Moshi, although the roads can be rough. Upon arriving, visitors can explore the conservation area by car, on foot, or through guided safari tours.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, including the African Big Five. The area is also renowned for its large population of flamingos and other bird species, as well as the endangered eastern black and white colobus monkey.
The best time to visit Ngorongoro Conservation Area is during the dry season, from June to September when the wildlife is concentrated around water sources and the weather is pleasant. January to February is another excellent time to visit as it's the calving season for wildebeest, attracting predators and providing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. The rainy season, from March to May and October to December, can make the roads difficult to navigate, but it's an ideal time for birdwatching and enjoying the lush green scenery.
