Masvingo was originally known as Fort Victoria, named after Queen Victoria, and was established as a British outpost in the late 1800s.
Masvingo is located in southeastern Zimbabwe, about 292 kilometres (181 miles) south of the capital city of Harare, and is situated in the province of the same name.

The city can be accessed through various means of transportation. If you're coming from outside the country, the nearest international airport is the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare. It is about 300 km away from Masvingo. From Harare, you can take a taxi or a bus to Masvingo, which takes about 4 hours. Alternatively, you can fly to Masvingo International Airport, which is located about 9 km from the city centre.
