How to Get There

The easiest way to get to Lake Nakuru National Park is by car or bus. From Nairobi, take the A104 highway towards Nakuru, then turn off onto the B51 towards Naivasha. The park is about 4 kilometres from the town of Nakuru. The journey should take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on traffic.

Alternatively, you can take a flight from Nairobi to the nearby Naishi airstrip, which is about 30 minutes away from the park. Once you arrive, you can explore the park on foot, by car or on a guided tour.

Wildlife

Wildlife in Samburu National Reserve is diverse and sparsely populated. This reserve is home to more than 900 elephants. And, you spot an ample number of rare species such as Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, and Gerenuk.

Best Time to Visit

For, superb game-viewing, the dry season from July to September is the best time to visit Samburu Game Reserve. Being the dry season, a large herd of animals can be spotted around, the Ewaso Ng’iro River, which becomes the only source of water.

We suggest you avoid the peak wet months (November, April and May) as the long heavy rains in these months make the wildlife-viewing experience worse.
